Welcome to the Home of Martial Arts in the Morecambe Bay Area

"A Journey of a thousand  miles begins with a single step"
This old eastern proverb is particularly true in the field of martial arts, and by finding this website you have taken the first step towards becoming fitter more confident, more relaxed, or in helping your child to increase their self confidence, self control, balance, teamwork and concentration.
Our school offers training in Kuk Sool and Kuk Sool Hapkido in the following four class types;-
Little Ninjas
These are special classes for 4 to 6 year olds. They will learn about teamwork, respect and sharing. Physical benefits include improved balance, fitness and concentration which will help them in their early days in education. They will also begin to learn the basics of martial arts, and be rewarded appropiately as they reach various goals. When they are ready they will move into the Junior class.
Juniors
From the age of around 6, new students will join our regular Junior classes. In these classes they will work with students both older and younger, which wil help to encourage the development of social skills, respect and responsibility. In some classes students of all ranks are mixed whilst in others they are separated by rank.
Youth
From the age of around 11, students may join the youth class. At present this is held just once a week, but we plan to expand this in the near future. Yout students train at a higher level and are given more repsonsibility and have the option to complete a Junior Leader course in which they assist with coaching younger students. As well as attending this class they may also attend either Junior or Senior classes, depending upon their age.
Seniors
Usually around the age of 13, students would join the senior classes. Sometimes this is a gradual process with them attending some junior and some senior lessons as well as the youth classes. Our oldest senior students are currently around 56 years old (as is Master John!) so it really is a "mixed bag" which makes for a great social side. Senior students often opt to learn the slightly tougher art of Kuk Sool Hapkido which has a wider variety of techniques and forms to learn.
Family Lessons

For those seniors whose children also train with us, we offer family classes at two locations. This is an opportunity to train alongside your children and assist (and be assisted by) them with training.

HOW IT ALL STARTED
Originally known as Kuk Sool Won of Lancaster, Morecambe & Heysham, our school now boasts well over 100 students aged from just 4 years old to a number of “fifty something” adults! School owner, John Ward has been training in the Korean Martial Arts for 18 years and has been a full-time instructor for over 10 years. His business partner, Angela Prince has been training with Master John since shortly after the schoool was opened and is currently the schools only 2nd dahn Black Belt student as well as being an instructor.

John's main motivation in starting training was, like many people, to find an enjoyable way to keep fit, to learn to defend himself and his family.
Detailed elsewhere on this site are some of the many trophies and awards which John, Angela and their students have won over the years, both at home and abroad. However, despite the undoubted successes in tournaments, the school's main focus is to provide good quality, professional training which will be enjoyed by and be of great benefit to virtually anyone prepared to “give it a go”.
