YOUR INSTRUCTORS

Our principal instructor is Kwan Jang Nim (KJN or 5th Dahn Master) John Ward, pictured above. John''s first Instructor was KJN (5th Dahn) Phillip Hinchliffe, but he also recieved a great deal of valuable instruction from JIKJN (6th Dahn) David Williams, now resident in Calgary, Canada. However during his martial arts career, he has also been taught by JDKJN (7th Dahn) John Ives and JIKJN John Watson. He has also attended many seminars with Kuk Sa Nim In Hyuk Suh and his sons, Alex and Sung Jin Suh. His current Instructor is 9th Dahn Rudy Timmerman, who is also Grand Master of Kong Ship Bup, which is quite possibly the most complete martial art available today.
KJN John was UK Senior Grand Champion in the UK WKSA Tournament in 1999, 2000 & 2001. In 1999 he was a gold medallist in the World Championships held in Houston, Texas, USA and more recently he achieved three medals, second third and fourth place in the 3rd Dahn Category at the 50th anniversary competition in Katy Texas.
He has also competed sucessfully in a number of "open" competitions (those open to all styles of martial arts, and has won a number of first second and third places, often against much younger opposition. In 2009 he was a National All styles UK Champion.
John has been teaching Korean Martial Arts since 1999 and in Morecambe, since June 2003.
Since then no less than 20 Morecambe students have reached the coveted rank of 1st Dahn Black belt and one has achieved her 2nd dahn. The school now has several more students who are approaching black belt testing and more who are in the process of testing for second Dahn and above. John currently holds the rank of 5th Dahn in Kuk Sool Hapkido. John promoted to 5th Dahn at the Meeting of Grandmasters, in Sault Ste Marie Canada, in August 2010. We believe that may be the first Master level Instructor of Kuk Sool Hapkido in th UK. However, not content with a Master level certification, KJN intends to start testing again later this year....this time for 1st dahn in  the extremely tough art of Kong Shin Bup.

All classes are currently run by Master John himself, or Senior instructor KSN (2nd Dahn) Angela Prince. Often both are present at lessons.

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR ANGELA PRINCE
Helping to run the school on a day to day basis is Senior Instructor, Angela Prince. KSN Angela holds a 2nd dahn in Kuk Sool Hapkido and was one of the first two students of the school to earn her Black Belt.
Seen here helping a young student with his striking practise, KSN Angela has become a valuable asset to the school and in 2011 KJN John made her a Junior partner. She has had many succeses in tournaments around the UK, in Spain and the USA, winning many Gold medals along the way.
She achieved her 2nd dahn in 2010 at the Meting of Grandmasters, having to test along with KJN John,  in front of a panel fo Master and Grandmasters of Korean Martial Arts from around the world.
Angela has become KJN John's main training partner and hopes to begin testing for her 3rd dahn next year.

Here she can be seen teaching a rolling fall to a senior student.
